So, after trying out a private blog for awhile, it's back to being public. Did you miss anything? I didn't type a thing, so no. But it is good to be back for the simple reason that it helps me to keep track of life and the passage of time -- as well as help keep friends on the same historical page with me. So what have we been up to?
First off: Congrats again to Kevin and Kyra for Moon³! It will be exciting to watch their family grow... albeit from a distance of two states away. Still, I hope they will know that our hopes and prayers will be with them during this very happy season.
Secondly: Jobs! So Brant has three (freelance boarding/illustration, running his own private art school for youth, and Hills Flat Lumber Co.) and I have two (assisting in the Sierra College art department and cleaning at Lesley's dad's physical therapy office).
Thirdly: Professional focus. Brant has been prepping his portfolio for CTN, which he'll be off to in a week. EVERYBODY CROSS FINGERS!!!! In the meantime I've been a productive student, as you may have been able to gather on my work blog, and am preparing four separate portfolios for my upcoming finals. More art will be posted soon from us both accordingly.
Lastly (for this post anyway): Animal rescuing has been a major time spender. Fortunately, we live in an area full of environmentalists, do-gooders, animal lovers, and most importantly -- tons of forested mountain space. Though originally un-foreseen, a few months ago we ended up rescuing and transplanting the majority of a major urban cat colony from certain death to... our place. We have since fed, spayed, neutered, sheltered, humanized (ie: make people-friendly), nursed, cuddled, and slowly adopted out said colony, with many thanks to the efforts of Sammie's Friends, Lesley A.'s knowledge of good people/organizations, and Katie K.'s veterinary skills. The effort continues, but is moving forward in a positive direction.
In short, we've been very busy, but we are happily looking forward to the holiday season!
